The Yamuna River runs through the city of New Delhi. It serves 20 million inhabitants and is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Along its banks live thousands of urban farmers. They are among the most vulnerable in Delhi. Despite having no access to government services or official identification, living under constant threat of eviction, and having to rebuild their houses each year after the monsoons, they continue to grow significant amounts of produce for the city, yet the future of this sector is critically threatened due to critical pollution and ongoing development. This site report documents action projects undertaken to build farmer security and rejuvenate the floodplains by restoring wetlands and replanting riverine flora.
